Finance IT Project Request FAQs
Any request for an endeavor undertaken to create a unique or enhanced product, service or result is a project. If the project uses computers, software, or telecommunications for storing, processing and distribution of information, it is an information technology (IT) project. If the request requires immediate attention for a Break/Fix issue, please contact FIT Support.
You can request a project by following this link and filling out the form. This will start the intake process for your project. FIT will schedule a meeting to review the project request once it is received.
After the project is reviewed, based on the criticality and complexity of the project, FIT will organize meetings with the stakeholders and the requestor to gather requirements. These meetings will generate the documents needed to complete the IT Project.
Once the documentation is completed and the request is approved, the project will be entered into the backlog queue. Projects in backlog queue will be considered by department heads and the FIT Director for prioritization in the work queue.
The project will be reviewed for readiness to be worked. Considerations such as updates to the documentation, changes in the process, and other projects in the queue will be reviewed to make sure that the project is ready for development.
The project will be assigned to FIT or a representative citizen developer based on the criticality and complexity determined during the project documentation stage. Regular meetings will be scheduled with the stakeholders and the requestor to ensure that milestones are being met.
Releases of the project will be moved into a testing state. This is the time when you can put the project results through its paces. Test with good data, test with bad data. The more thoroughly you test the project, the more assured we can be that it will have the desired impact.
Once the testing has been completed, the requester will approve the project for release into production. The project software and documentation will be reviewed for completeness. FIT will work with the requestor to coordinate a go live date and a release into production.
