FIT Offboarding Service Request

Employee Offboarding FAQs

When an employee departs from the division of the VPF&CFO, whether they are leaving Virginia Tech or joining another division, the employee needs to be offboarded. FIT employee offboarding is a requested process that works to ensure that an employee’s access to departmental resources, such as hardware, software, security groups, SharePoint sites, and web applications are discontinued. This will protect us as employees of the Vice President for Finance, as well as the resources we depend on.

This process needs to be initiated by the departing employee’s supervisor or their department’s business operations coordinator.

Click the FIT Offboarding link and use the "Request this service" button to submit a request. This will create a RITM (request item) ticket that generates a workflow that both FIT and the requestor can follow and update until the FIT offboarding process is complete.

Requests should be made as soon possible after it is determined the employee is leaving your department. To ensure the best service experience, we encourage departments to submit the request immediately following the employee’s notice of resignation or their being terminated. Letting FIT know early allows the time for FIT to prepare for the employee’s departure.
